Hi friend,

How was your weekend? Did you have any fun plans? I actually love when the weekend has no plans and we can just go with the flow, and maybe have some time to take it easy. We got a good mix of both this past weekend. We watched Ghostbusters which Henry is in love with. And we went sledding! Henry finally got to sled down a big hill — something I've been wanting to take him to do all winter but it's been very cold here in Michigan. We finally got a 26 degree day with some sunshine and took advantage of it. Penny had fun too. She went down the big hill with me and then spent some time playing in the snow, aka me just putting her gloves back on over and over as they would not stay on. Haha!

I took a break from writing the Palette the past few weeks as I sent out oodles of emails about 75 Art and InDesign Your Portfolio. During that time, I was thinking about the Palette content and would love your feedback so we can decide if we should make any changes. Can you click on one of the options in this poll below so we can gather some feedback? Thank you!

xoxo, Genna

MINDSET TIP — Prioritize creating the art you want to make.

If your art starts to feel heavy or forced, it’s often a sign you need more play, not more strategy. Creating just for fun isn’t a reward you earn after “real work.” It’s what keeps your creativity alive in the first place.

Art of the Zodiac

My friend Jess Miller has a coloring book available for pre-order! It publishes February 24, and would make the perfect gift for the astrologer in your life. It has lay-flat binding and premium wood-free paper, which is a JOY to color on.

"I’ve taken a lot of online art courses—and this one was so different. It was just awesome. Drawn to Art helped me focus in on what I do best and gave me more confidence in my work. It took the overwhelm out of the whole thing. Everything was approachable, bite-sized, and so fun."

Do you have a success story to share after taking one of my courses or reading one of my free guides? I'd love to hear it! Tell me about it here.

New Blog Post!

Someone recently wrote me asking how I balance creating art for clients versus creating for myself, and it sparked this new blog post. I always recommend prioritizing creating for fun. It’s one of the simplest ways to reset your mindset, protect your creativity, and keep your art practice feeling curious instead of heavy.

Signature Style Stories: 5 of 5 (Click here to listen to an audio version of this email). Hi Reader, This is the last email in my Signature Style Stories series (catch up here), and I want to end with what I think is both the simplest and the most radical idea I have to share: Make art you love. That's it. That's the whole strategy. I know that sounds too easy. But hear me out. Do you feel pressure to make art that's on trend? Marketable? When you sit down to create, do you find yourself...

Signature Style Stories: 4 of 5 (Click here to listen to an audio version of this email). Hi Reader, In my last email, I talked about why now is the best time in history to make money from your art. If you missed it, catch up here. Today I want to talk about why you might have a hard time taking advantage of all the opportunities we discussed in our last email. Have you ever made something that you thought was SO good, and you worried you’d never make anything that good again? So then you...

Signature Style Stories: 3 of 5 (Click here to listen to an audio version of this email.) Hi Reader, In my last email, I made the case for why your creative voice matters more than ever. If you missed it, catch up here. Let me take you back to the late '80s and early '90s. I was a kid with Print Shop Deluxe and a dot matrix printer, making greeting cards and happy birthday banners (and thinking I was absolutely incredible). There was no Procreate, no iPads, no Spoonflower, no Etsy, no...
